Language detection controls the language of the main subtitles. In most cases, it should match the language of the audio track — for example, if you are watching an English video, this should be set to English.
After you enable AI subtitles, you will get subtitles that match the audio language. If you want to translate them into your native language, such as English, you should focus on the second subtitle.
For example, if you are watching a Japanese video, and want to translate a Japanese subtitle into English, you should change the second subtitle language instead. You can set the second language by tapping the subtitle button in the top-right corner and choosing your desired language at Second Subtitle Section.
Some programs may have AI-generated subtitles in the wrong language or the specific learning features of a language might not be activated.
This is because they begin with long segments in a different language or low audio quality.
For such content, before enabling AI subtitles, you can change the language detection from Auto to language which matching the media.
If you already transcribed the content, you have to delete this material then reimport it and transcribe it again.
If your subtitles are fine but missing phonetic annotations for certain languages—such as Pinyin for Chinese, Kana for Japanese, or phonetic guides for Korean or Thai—you can manually assign the subtitle’s linguistic features under “Learning Features” after updating to version 1.8.5.
In some cases, the second subtitle may not appear.
This usually happens when the main subtitles and the second subtitles are set to the same language. In that situation, the system assumes there is no need to display the same language twice. So please keep this in mind: the language in Language Detection should match the language of the audio, while the second subtitle language is the language you want the main subtitles to be translated into.
